Kansas City Comets Information
The Kansas City Comets is an American indoor soccer team that is based in Independence, Missouri. The team is originally called the Missouri Comets. They joined the Major Indoor Soccer League in the 2010-2011 season as an expansion team. The team plays its home games at the Cable Dahmer Arena and a Major Arena Soccer League member. The Kansas City Comets was founded in 2010.
The Kansas City Comets is named after the original Kansas City Comets, who played the original Major Indoor Soccer League from 1981 to 1991. On August 16, 2010, Kim Rentved, a former Kansas City Comets star, was named the head coach for the current team. On August 29, 2013, Vlatko Andonovski was promoted to Head Coach from Assistant Coach. The Comets reached the playoff in all four seasons as a member of the MISL. They have also won the championship on their fourth playoff appearance.
From 2010 to 2016, the team was known as the Missouri Comets, but after rejoining MASL, they rebranded themselves as the Kansas City Comets. Currently, Leo Gibson is performing his responsibilities as the head coach for Kansas City Comets.
