The Idaho Falls Chukars are a baseball club in the Pioneer League, which is not connected with MLB but is a partner league. Their home games are played at Melaleuca Field, located in Idaho Falls, Idaho, which is also their location. They changed their major league affiliation after the 2003 season, and as a result of a vote by the fans, they decided to change their name to the Chukars.
Chukars are a type of game bird that may be seen in this area. Except for the Chukars, Eastern Idaho is home to only one professional sports team. Idaho Falls continues to be a member of the Pioneer League, which was converted from an MLB-affiliated Rookie Advanced league to an independent league and granted status as an MLB Partner in 2021.
