The Hillsboro Hops began playing in 2013 as a Minor League Baseball team in Hillsboro, Oregon. They are named after hops, which are used to make beer and are an important crop in the area. The team became the High-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks and started playing their home games at Hillsboro Ballpark.
