Great Falls Voyagers Information
The Great Falls Voyagers is an American independent baseball team of the Pioneer League. The team is currently not affiliated with Major League Baseball, but it is affiliated with MLB Partner League. The team is located in Great Falls, Montana. The Voyagers play their home games at Centene Stadium. Since 1969, the team has played regularly in the Pioneer League. Previously, they played the league from 1948 to 1963. Their name refers to the Mariana UFO incident in August 1950 when the general manager of the Great Falls Electrics, Nicholas “Nick” Mariana, saw two spinning objects approaching at a seemingly high speed. Mariana recorded 60 seconds of footage at Legion Park of the unidentified flying objects.
Pete Rose Jr., the son of a major league career, was named the manager of the Voyagers on December 18, 2012. He joined the team in place of Ryan Newman. Team players who were inducted into the Hall of Fame include Pedro Martinez (1990), Bobby Cox (1963), Jim Hughes (1948), Bennie Daniels Jr. (1951), Gene Brabender (1961), Bob Griffith (1962), Gary Thomasson (1969), Butch Metzger (1970), and Frank Riccelli (1971).
