Georgia Bulldogs Gymnastics Information
The Georgia GymDogs, formally known as the Georgia Bulldogs, are the University of Georgia's women's gymnastics team. The Southeastern Conference is home to this NCAA Division I squad. The Athens, Georgia, venue where the GymDogs compete is Stegeman Coliseum.
With ten overall and 16 in the SEC, the GymDogs are unrivaled in women's gymnastics in the country. This includes five straight wins from 2005 to 2009. Suzanne Yoculan coached the team from 1983 to 2009. Jay Clark coached the team from 2009 until 2012. Danna Durante led the squad from 2012 to 2017. Courtney Kupets is the current coach of the team.
Beginning in 1973, under the direction of head coach Melinda Airhart, the women's gymnastics program participated in AIAW competitions. After the AIAW demise, the squad participated in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), beginning with the 1979–1980 championship season.
Clark succeeded Suzanne Yoculan as head coach on July 1, 2009, following Yoculan's retirement after 26 years. Durante took over for Clark until 2012. As of 2012, the squad had won ten national titles in women's gymnastics and 22 regional and 16 SEC championships.
