First Responder Bowl Information
The First Responder Bowl is an American-based NCAA post-season college football bowl game. It is played in the Dallas, Texas, area on an annual basis. The bowl took place for the first time on January 1, 2011, and since 2014 it has been played in late December. For the 2018 game, the bowl was held at the Cotton Bowl in Fair Park, located in Dallas. The original name for the bowl was commissioned as the Dallas Football Classic, but it has undergone several name changes due to sponsorship variations over time.
In 2013, PlainCapital Bank became the sponsor for the game, changing it to the Heart of Dallas Bowl. Servpro was one of the sponsors for the bowl in 2018. The 2018 edition was the first one for the game to be called the First Responder Bowl, with Servpro as the title sponsor. Unfortunately, that game was canceled due to severe weather conditions.
So far, North Texas has appeared most times out of all teams in the First Responder Bowl. Others who have made a single appearance in the game include Army, Houston, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Utah, Washington, and Western Kentucky. Significant media coverage is provided to the game, with ESPNU televising the bowl's first four games. However, since December 2014, all the games have been aired on ESPN.
