The Federated Auto Parts 400 is a NASCAR Cup Series stock car race inaugurated in 1958. The stock car race is held at the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Virginia, as the second of two races on the same track. The first one is known as the Toyota Owners 400, which takes place in the spring. The race was formerly known as Richmond 200 (1958), Capital City 200 (1959–1961), Capital City 300 (1962–1968), Capital City 400 (1976–1980), Wrangler Sanford-Set 400 (1981–1985), Miller High Life 400 (1988–1989), Miller Genuine Draft 400 (1990–1995), Chevrolet Monte Carlo 400 (2000), and Chevrolet Monte Carlo 400 with the Looney Tunes (2001–2002).
The Federated Auto Parts 400 is one of the ten races in the Cup Series playoffs that run in Round 16 as the second race. The previous home for the final race was Richmond. In early 1991, the event was shifted from Sunday afternoon to Saturday night, making it the second night race on the NASCAR schedule.
The most wins secured as a driver were Richard Petty (7), whereas most wins as a team were by Petty Enterprises Joe Gibbs Racing (7).
