Errol Spence Jr. (March 3, 1990) is an American professional boxer. Spence, then 22 years old, made his pro debut on November 9, 2012, at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California, against Jonathan Garcia, then 19. Spence knocked Garcia out in the third round with a devastating body shot. On the undercard of Amir Khan's return fight against Carlos Molina at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles, California, in December 2012, Spence scored a first-round knockout victory against Richard Andrews.
Spence had eight bouts in 2013 and won them all, knocking out his opponents six times. In October, he was fought by Emmanuel Lartei Lartey for eight rounds. All three judges fought 79-73 for Spence, making it one-sided. Spence has a perfect record of 10 wins, 0 losses, and 0 knockouts by the end of 2013.
Spence fought Ronald Cruz in a 10-round bout broadcast on Showtime on June 27, 2014, at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. Although Spence went the distance, he was awarded a unanimous decision victory. The fight occurred on December 13, 2014, at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, where Spence won via fifth-round technical knockout over Javier Castro.
