El Paso Chihuahuas Information
El Paso Chihuahuas is a Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, which play in the Pacific Coast League (PCL). Southwest University Park, their home field, opened in 2014. They call El Paso, Texas, home. The El Paso Chihuahuas were formerly known as the Tucson Padres before relocating to Texas. Before the minor league reorganization of 2021, they played in the PCL, but in 2022, the Triple-A West was renamed the PCL.
In 2016, the Chihuahuas triumphed in the PCL. Following the 2021 reorganization of Minor League Baseball by Major League Baseball, the Chihuahuas found themselves in the Triple-A West. With a final record of 46-74, El Paso finished the season in fifth place in the Eastern Division. The greatest regular season record was used to select the league champion rather than postseason play.
However, all 30 Triple-A clubs competed in a playoff tournament called the Triple-A Final Stretch, which rescheduled ten games postponed at the beginning of the season. El Paso had a 5-5 record for the tournament, good enough for a share of 13th place. As part of the 2021 reorganization, the Triple-A West changed its name to the Pacific Coast League the next year.
