Dukes Mayo Bowl Information
The Duke's Mayo Bowl is a college football game held annually at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, since 2002. At this time, the game involves a battle between two teams from different conferences: the Big Ten, the Big 12, or the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The Queen City Bowl was its initial commission name, although it has changed many times.
After the 2019 season, Belk notified bowl authorities that it would not renew its sponsorship. This announcement was made on November 20, 2019. A change in the bowl's title sponsor was announced in June 2020: Duke's Mayonnaise. Under Duke's Mayo's sponsorship, the winning coaches were showered with thick, creamy mayonnaise instead of Gatorade.
The bowl opponents of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) were supposed to switch places every other year from 2020 to 2025. The Big Ten would send a team; on odd-numbered years, the SEC would send a team. Even though their league didn't have a representative in this bowl, they did send one to the Las Vegas Bowl.
After the 2020 game, Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz, who led his side to victory, inadvertently shattered the glass trophy, which garnered significant attention on social media.
