Down East Wood Ducks Information
The Down East Wood Ducks were established in 2017 and are the Low-A East's Minor League Baseball team. The team is currently based in Kinston, North Carolina. The Wood Ducks were given its name by a local colorful and beautiful waterfowl. The home games of the baseball team are all played at Grainger Stadium. The stadium first opened for the public in 1949 with a current capacity of 4,100. Wood Ducks are operated and under the ownership of Texas Rangers/Rangers Kinston, LLC.
The Rangers signed a 12-year contract with the city to provide a strong team beginning with the 2017 season at Grainger Stadium. From 2017 to 2020, the Ducks were members of the Carolina League. The Wood Ducks have played through 2019 in 418 regular-season games. The team has successfully compiled a win-loss record of 208–210. On two major occasions, the Down East has reached the postseason. The team has also won a league championship and one division title. In 2017, they won the lone Carolina League title. The overall postseason record of the Ducks is 4-3.
The official uniform colors of the Wood Ducks are black, orange, gold, emerald, tan, and white. About 24 players on the Wood Ducks have also played in at least one game for a Major League Baseball team (as of the 2020 season).
