The Coke Zero 400 is a NASCAR Cup Series stock car race first held in 1959. The event occurs at Daytona International Speedway, consisting of 400-mile (640 km) with 160 laps. The Coke Zero 400 is the second of two major stock car events held at the venue, the other being the Daytona 500. The race was traditionally held on or around the Fourth of July since its inception.
The Coke Zero 400 was formerly known as Firecracker 250 (1959–1962), Medal of Honor Firecracker 400 (1969, 1971, 1973), Pepsi Firecracker 400 (1985–1988), and Coke Zero 400 powered by Coca-Cola (2008–2017).
From 1984 to 2007, the Coke Zero 400 was sponsored by PepsiCo. Currently, it is corporate sponsored by Coca-Cola Zero Sugar and The Coca-Cola Company. The race is currently known for its close finishes, as it posted a 0.154 margin on average of victory in the last 21 races. This also included the tied fourth closest margin of victory in the history of the NASCAR Cup Series, which is at 0.005s. The most wins as a driver were secured by David Pearson (5), while as a team, it was done by Wood Brothers Racing (9).
