Clearwater Threshers Information
Clearwater Threshers are a Minor League Baseball club that competes in the Florida State League. They are also the Philadelphia Phillies' Single-A affiliate in the Minor League Baseball hierarchy. They have been playing their home games at BayCare Ballpark since 2004, and their location is in Clearwater, Florida. Previously, they played at Jack Russell Memorial Stadium, their home venue from 1985 until 2003.
The Clearwater Phillies was the team's name when it first began playing in 1985. The Phillies were named after their Major League Baseball affiliate. The Clearwater squad moved to the new Spectrum Field in 2004, at which point they changed their name to the Threshers. The Threshers earned national acclaim for their performance after playing a game against the Jupiter Hammerheads that lasted for 23 innings on May 23, 2011.
The Threshers were placed in the Low-A Southeast at the Low-A classification in 2021, which coincided with the reorganization of Minor League Baseball that Major League Baseball carried out. In 2022, the Low-A Southeast was reclassified as a Single-A circuit and renamed the Florida State League. This was the name that the regional circuit had previously used before the reorganization in 2021.
