Charleston Cougars Mens Basketball Information

The men's basketball team from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, known as the Charleston Cougars, competes at the NCAA Division I level. The Coastal Athletic Association is where the Cougars play their games. The home arena of the College of Charleston Cougars is TD Arena, which is situated on campus, and their 1983 NAIA season ended with a national championship. A men's basketball team has been sponsored by the College of Charleston since 1898. 

The 2017–18 season was a smashing success for Coach Grant and the Cougars, who went 26–8, 14–4 in conference play, and perfect at home. They swept conference opponents Delaware, Hofstra, Northeastern, and UNCW. The Cougars defeated Elon 79-58 to claim the regular-season conference title. They were seeded first in the CAA Conference tournament and ultimately defeated Northeastern 83-76 in overtime to claim the title. 

Afterward, Charleston would be seeded thirteenth in the 2018 NCAA Men's Tournament and face Auburn, seeded four, in San Diego, California. Grant departed to take over as head coach at Boston College when the season ended. On March 25, 2021, the Cougars brought on Pat Kelsey, who had previously coached at Winthrop University.
