Champions Classic Information

The beginning of the college basketball season for men's Division I teams is marked with the Champions Classic. Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, and Michigan State are four of the best collegiate basketball teams in the United States. Once held at Madison Square Garden, the event has moved to other locations. On November 15, 2011, the first Classic was held. 

Each club would face each other once yearly for the next three years, with the cycle ending in 2013. ESPN broadcasts the game. The series' scheduled end date is 2025. In the 2019 season, they featured games between the top-ranked teams in both the AP and Coaches polls. Bill Self of Kansas was the final of the four coaches to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017, and both Bill Self and Mike Krzyzewski retired at the end of the 2021-22 season. 

After the 2022 games, the greatest records in the champions classic belong to Duke and Kansas (7-5) and Kentucky and Michigan State (5-7). Every team in the Classic has beaten every other team at least once, and Kansas is the only team that hasn't lost to any of the others.
