The Central Michigan Chippewas football program, which participates as a division of Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, has a rich history. With a name chosen to honor the Chippewa tribe, this Mid-American Conference (MAC) powerhouse has won several conference titles and made its mark in postseason bowl games for decades.
Kelly Shorts Stadium, named after Bill Kelly and Herbert "Shorty" Short, is their home field. It is a lively place for spectators to cheer on the team. Notable examples of Chippewa alums who have gone on to play in the NFL include star wide receiver Antonio Brown.
