Campeones Cup Information
The Campeones Cup is the annual North American association football match between the previous MLS Cup winners from Major League Soccer and Liga MX's Campeón de Campeones champions. The two leagues set up the rivalry in 2018. Held annually in November or December, the MLS Cup winner determines the Major League Soccer season's champion, the Campeón de Campeones, held annually in July between the champions of the Apertura and Clausura competitions in Liga MX.
Previously running teams in the SuperLiga lasted from 2007 to 2010, the two leagues now participate in the CONCACAF Champions League. The shared North American candidacy for the 2026 FIFA World Cup helped to inspire inter-league cooperation in some measure.
The epidemic canceled the 2020 edition, which Seattle Sounders FC hosted. League MX and MLS declared that the game would make a comeback in 2021. The Campeones Cup returned with a 2–0 Columbus Crew victory against Cruz Azul at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio, on September 29, 2021.
