Campeon de Campeones Information
The Campeón de Campeones, or "Champion of Champions" in Spanish, is a yearly football tournament in Mexico since 1942. The former Liga MX and current Copa MX champions were scheduled to meet in a Super Cup match. The current format of Liga MX and Liga MX Femenil has pitted the Apertura and Clausura champions against each other every year since 2003.
The North American tournament known as the Campeones Cup is a battleground that pits the champion of Major League Soccer against the victors of the Campeón de Campeones. The champion of the Campeón de Campeones has faced off against the champion of the MLS Cup in the Campeones Cup since 2018, creating thrilling moments of competition. The Liga MX Femenil Campeón de Campeones was officially established on May 24, 2021, by the Liga MX Owners Assembly.
As the defending champions of the Guardianes League in 2020 and 2021, Tigres Femenil was automatically named the tournament's first champions. In the same way as the previous traditional competition, the Campeón de Campeones is automatically granted to the team that wins both the Apertura and Clausura seasons. Atlas won the 2021 Apertura and 2022 Clausura seasons automatically, making it the first time this has happened since 2022.
