Binghamton Rumble Ponies Information
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies are a MiLB franchise headquartered in Binghamton, New York. The club is the New York Mets' Double-A affiliate and competes in the Eastern League. The Rumble Ponies play their games at Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton. In 1976, the team's home field was Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where they competed as the Williamsport Bills. Jersey City, New Jersey, was the site of its 1977 and 1978 performances.
The team unveiled their new logo and announced their renaming as the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on November 3, 2016. The Rumble Ponies and other Double-A teams like the Erie SeaWolves and Chattanooga Lookouts were included in Major League Baseball's 2019 plan to sever ties with 42 minor-league teams in 2021.
To spare the Rumble Ponies from extinction, the Mets preserved their association with Binghamton by announcing it will remain on November 10, 2020. The squad joined the Double-A Northeast Conference. After the regional circuit changed its name in 2021, the Double-A Northeast continued using it in 2022. This new name was the Eastern League. The Rumble Ponies and Diamond Baseball Holdings reached a sale agreement on April 26, 2024.
