Billings Mustangs Information
The Billings Mustangs is an American independent baseball team of the Pioneer League. The team is not affiliated with Major League Baseball but with an MLB Partner League. The Mustangs are currently located in Billings, Montana. Since 2008, they have played their home games at Dehler Park. Previously, they played at Cobb Field. In 1948, the team joined the Pioneer League. The Mustangs had been affiliated with several other teams such as Cincinnati Reds (1974-2020), Kansas City Royals (1970-1973), Seattle Pilots (1969), St. Louis Cardinals (1957-1963), Pittsburgh Pirates (1952-1956), and Brooklyn Dodgers (1949-1951). The team is owned and operated by Main Street Baseball.
From 1992 to 1994, the Mustangs won three consecutive Pioneer League championships. Several major league stars have started their pro career in Mustangs, such as B. J. Ryan, Austin Kearns, Adam Dunn, Aaron Boone, Scott Sullivan, Ben Broussard, Danny Tartabull, Keith Lockhart, Trevor Hoffman, Paul O’Neill, Reggie Sanders, and George Brett. In the 2006 season, the Mustangs changed its logo. They played their last season at Cobb Field and began the 2008 season at Dehler Park.
Some notable alumni of the Billings Mustangs include Jim Hickman (1958), Gorman Thomas (1969), Al Cowens (1970), Mark Littell (1971), Ruppert Jones (1973), Ron Oester (1974), and Larry Rothschild (1975).
