Auto Club 400 Information
The Auto Club 400 is a NASCAR Cup Series race held at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. The first race of the event took place in 1997. The race ran at a length of 500 miles until 2010. After the NASCAR Realignment in 2005, the event month moved to February and the week following the Daytona 500 until the 2011 season.
NASCAR came back to Southern California on June 22, 1997, with the inaugural California 500. The race was previously named California 500 Presented by NAPA (1997-1999), NAPA Auto Parts 500 (2000-2002), and Auto Club 500 (2003-2010).
As a team, Roush Fenway Racing and Hendrick Motorsports have secured the most wins to date. Drivers who have won most of the Auto Club 400 include Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth, and Kyle Busch. Ford and Chevrolet have their names among the manufacturers with the most wins for the race. The surface of the race is Asphalt with 2.0 miles and four turns. The corporate sponsor of the Auto Club 400 is the Automobile Club of Southern California.
