Augusta National Womens Amateur Championship Information
Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta and Champions Retreat Golf Club in Evans are the sites of the Augusta National Women's Amateur (ANWA), a golf tournament in Georgia. First held in 2019, this tournament is a 54-hole stroke play. The tournament's first two days were held at Champions Retreat on the Island and Bluff Nines, with a field of 72 competitors.
Under a new sponsorship deal with Chevron Corporation, the ANA Inspiration has changed its name to The Chevron Championship in 2021. Starting in 2023, the event moved to a later date, avoiding a conflict with the ANWA. A final-round duel between Jennifer Kupcho and María Fassi, who eventually won the tournament, was the highlight of the 2019 inaugural event. Kupcho went five under par in the last six holes to win by four strokes over Fassi, who finished with a score of -10.
The thirteenth hole was part of Kupcho's back-nine performance that included an eagle. Kupcho was presented with an engraved set of crystal glasses as a token of her accomplishment, much like all Masters participants who bag an eagle. As a result of the pandemic, the 2020 tournament had to be canceled and rescheduled to November. The same thing happened with the 2020 Masters Tournament. As long as they were still considered amateurs when the tournament was held in 2020, all invited players were invited back for 2021.
