Atlanta Gladiators Information
The Atlanta Gladiators hail from Duluth, Georgia, and play in the lower leagues of ice hockey. The Gladiators are ECHL teams that compete in the Eastern Conference's South Division. About 22 miles (35 km) northeast of Atlanta is Gas South Arena, where they play home games.
Back in 1995, it was called the Mobile Mystics. After relocating from Gwinnett, they paused play in 2002 and rebranded as the Duluth Gladiators in 2003. They rebranded as the Atlanta Gladiators in 2015.
Although they lost in the Kelly Cup finals by a score of four games to one, they did win the American Conference and the South Division in 2006.
After the 2014–15 season, the Boston Bruins and the Providence Bruins, their AHL affiliates, became the affiliates of the Gladiators. The Gladiators brand was expanded to cover the whole Atlanta metropolitan region when the company announced on September 9, 2015, that it would be known as the Atlanta Gladiators.
Businessman Alex Campbell and former NHL player and NHL on TNT broadcaster Anson Carter formed ATL Hockey Group, LLC, which took over ownership of the franchise before the 2022–23 season began on October 19, 2022.
