NASCAR's Xfinity Series holds a 300-mile (482.803-kilometer) race, known as the Alsco Uniforms 300, as a support event for the Coca-Cola 600 over Memorial Day weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina.
Beginning as a NASCAR Late Model Sportsman Series event the day before the World 600, the race has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1978. It was first run as a Busch Series event in 1982. This race is one of the highlights of the Xfinity Series season and has been going strong for 40 years.
The event was always held on a Saturday afternoon until 2004. Only in 1985 did it coincide with The Winston. Having added lights in 1993, the Charlotte race was moved to Saturday nights from 2005 through 2009. Fans clamored for a return to an afternoon race in 2010. Therefore the event was shifted back to its traditional time of 2:30 p.m. eastern to facilitate ABC's broadcast. After NASCAR programming left ESPN in 2015, the race coverage was moved to Fox NASCAR so that both Charlotte events (Saturday's 300 and Sunday's 600) could be seen on the network.
Alsco, a linen and uniform rental service provider took over as entitlement sponsor in 2018, changing the race's name to the Alsco 300. In 2021, a slight change was made, and the name became the Alsco Uniforms 300.
