All-American Bowl Information
The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, hosts the All-American Bowl, a high school football all-star game. The All-American Bowl is an annual football game between two all-star teams from the Eastern and Western United States, played in January. It took place for the first time at Highlander Stadium in Dallas on December 30, 2000. San Antonio became the new home of the game in 2002. In 2004, NBC began airing the All-American Bowl. As a result, the event served as a stage for high school seniors to publicly declare their intention to enroll at a specific institution.
Attendance has steadily increased from the first game's 6,300 in 2000 to the 2017 record of 40,568. In 2017, the United States Army announced that it would not renew its title sponsorship of the game beyond the 2018 edition. Since 2019, it has been known as the All-American Bowl, sponsored by American Family Insurance.
The game was sold to NBC Sports Group by All-American Games on February 25, 2019, for a "seven-figure" sum that was not disclosed. NBC's other channels, like NBCSN and SportsEngine (a supplier of digital media services focused on youth and amateur sports), were supposed to be used in the game's an advertising and coverage.
