Alabama State Hornets Football Information
The Alabama State Hornets are the Alabama State University's football team. As a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference, the Hornets compete in NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) (SWAC). Hornet Stadium is where Alabama State football games and practices take place. The 120-yard artificial turf playing field provides all-weather training for ASU football. Construction of the Houston Markham Football Complex was finished in June 2011. The new home of the football program is a two-story, 30,000-square-foot facility.
The Magic City Classic is ASU's most popular and anticipated regular-season football game every year. The Hornets take on the Alabama A&M Bulldogs in Birmingham, Alabama, an in-state foe. The Turkey Day Classic is an annual Thanksgiving game between ASU and a different opponent, most notably Prairie View A&M in 2019, played almost every year since 1924.
