Yannis Ploutarchos (December 18, 1970) is a Greek singer and songwriter. He was born in Mavrogia, Voiotia. At six, he began to join in the family's daily practice of singing to get through the day's labors. In the beginning, he was influenced by Dimotiká and other forms of ancient Byzantine music. He stayed there until he was 16, when he uprooted to Athens to follow his ambition of being a singer.
He'd informed his loved ones of his intention to attend barber school in Athens. After relocating to Athens, Ploutarchos worked at a hair salon during the day and performed at nightclubs. His debut performance took place in a little Korydallos nightclub. The music industry's current state left him so dissatisfied that he changed careers twice before returning to singing.
Two years after his first performance, Ploutarchos began performing at club Rodolfo and then at larger clubs like Neraida, Fantasia, and Tonel, where he collaborated with notable laka names like Giannis Poulopoulos, Rita Sakellariou, Themis Adamantidis, and Contemporary laka artists like Stelios Rokkos and Giorgos Mazonakis. Ploutarchos signed with Minos EMI in the late '90s and quickly followed up with his debut album, Mono Esi (Only You), which was met with lukewarm critical reception but some sales success.
