Xtreme International Ice Racing (XiiR) is an American motorcycle racing tour performed exclusively on ice. It is known as North America’s best motorcycle racing tour, where humans and machines go from 0-60mph in under 3 secs. The individuals ride Speedway bikes and quads, which are highly modified to compete on an indoor arena made of ice. More than 2,000 metal studs are added to the tires with no brakes at all. This makes the racing tour the fastest sport on ice. The rush of unstoppable power and speed on unpredictable ice makes XiiR the most thrilling race to take place.
Every year, XiiR gets even better and draws bigger crowds, more riders, and more sponsors. The speedway bike’s appearance often fools people as it seems no more than a simple mountain bike. Still, in reality, it has an engine equivalent to a 1200cc crotch rocket engine, 4-stroke, 4-valve engine in a mountain bike frame that runs only on nitromethane. With this mechanism, the engine runs at a higher compression with maximum horsepower. The racing tour comprises four laps on a monster speedway bike, compared to 10 minutes on a simple motocross bike.
The ice racing includes heats where each rider earns points to qualify for the Main Event. Four riders qualify to race handlebar-to-handlebar.
