World Womens Curling Championship Information
From March 19-27, 2022, the CN Centre in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, hosted the World Women's Curling Championship (officially known as the 2022 BKT Tires & OK Tire World Women's Curling Championship due to sponsorship). Prince George was the first choice for the 2020 World Women's Curling Championship.
Championship play reverted to a round-robin with 13 teams, down from the 2021 World Women's Curling Championship's maximum of 14 teams. Six clubs made it to the playoffs, with the top two getting a bye and the bottom four playing in the first round.
As punishment for Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the Russian Curling Federation was kicked out of the competition, and the Czech Republic was invited to take its place. The Swiss crew, led by Silvana Tirinzoni, won the championship.
The World Curling Federation confirmed on March 4, 2022, that the Russian Curling Federation would not be participating in the 2022 World Curling Championships. Since they could not compete, the spot was offered to the two teams who had finished second and third in World Qualifying, Latvia and Finland, respectively. Afterward, it was extended to the next best team that wasn't already represented; the Czech Republic gladly accepted.
