Washington Wild Things Information
The Washington Wild Things are a professional baseball team from Washington, Pennsylvania. Stu and Francine Williams own the team, which plays in the West Division of the Frontier League (FL). Wild Things Park, a stadium constructed 30 miles southwest of Pittsburgh, can accommodate 3,200 spectators and serves as their home field.
In their first season of competition in 1997, the Wild Things defeated the Evansville Otters 2-0 to claim the Frontier Cup. Jeff Isom left his position as manager after the 2003 season and took a job with the Northern League's Joliet Jackhammers. Massarelli went their ways with the Wild Things following the 2007 season. After taking a year off, he became the inaugural manager of the Lake Erie Crushers.
After a hip surgery in January went wrong, Bando resigned as manager in March 2013. Bart Zeller, who had been the bench coach at the team for the past two years and earned a title with the Joliet Slammers, was elevated to manager. Manager Bart Zeller stepped down in 2014 due to health issues; the team was 31-19 as the All-Star break approached.
