Viva Momix Information
MOMIX, led by Moses Pendleton, is a dancer-illusionist ensemble renowned for delivering work of outstanding ingenuity and physical beauty on a global stage. Besides performing on stages worldwide, MOMIX has also dabbled in film and television, most notably in a national commercial for Hanes and a Target ad that debuted during the broadcast of the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards. The company's repertory has been seen in 55 countries thanks to PBS's "Dance in America" broadcasts, France's Antenne II, and Italy's RAI. Decca Records issued the company's performance on laser disc, where it was featured alongside the Montreal Symphony in Rhombus Media's video of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, which won the International Emmy for Best Performing Arts Special.
IMAGINE, one of the first 3-D IMAX films, featured MOMIX in cinemas worldwide. White Widow was featured in Robert Altman's film, The Company, and MOMIX dancers Cynthia Quinn and Karl Baumann in the character of "Bluey." MOMIX was selected to represent the United States at the European Cultural Center in Delphi and participate in the Homage a Picasso in Paris.
To mark the debut of the San Francisco Giants' new spring training park in Scottsdale, Arizona, Mr. Pendleton produced Bat Habits with funding from the Scottsdale Cultural Council Scottsdale Center for the Arts. MOMIX has performed for clients including Fiat and Mercedes Benz, appearing at events like Fiat's month-long 100th-anniversary celebration in Torino, Italy, and Mercedes Benz's International Auto Show in Frankfurt, Germany. For more than 40 years, MOMIX has wowed audiences on five continents using just light, shadow, props, and the human body.
