US Olympic Team Trials Wrestling is a trial event where all three Olympic wrestling teams are determined simultaneously. The trials include everything possible such as men’s freestyle, Greco-Roman, and women’s freestyle. The US Olympic Team Trials Wrestling champions become eligible to represent the United States at the International Olympic Games. Several trials have taken place at different locations, such as Indianapolis (2004), Iowa City (2012 and 2016), and Las Vegas (2008).
The Team Trials Wrestling competition is conducted with the Fort Worth Sports Commission and Texas USA Wrestling assistance. Team USA Wrestling is the National Governing Body for the Sports of Wrestling in the United States. It is also the representative of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee. USA Wrestling acts as the central organization that coordinates amateur wrestling programs and creates participation and interest in these programs.
There are more than 255,000 members in USA Wrestling. The members include athletes of all ages, fans, parents, officials, as well as coaches. It charters over 4,500 wrestling clubs every year and sanctions almost 2,100 local, national, regional, and state competitions.
