Tony Roberts Information
David Anthony "Tony" Roberts (October 22, 1939) is an American actor from Manhattan, New York City. He is the son of Norma, a CBS radio announcer, and Ken Roberts, an animator. Tony Roberts attended the High School of Music & Art and later went to Northwestern University. In 1962, Roberts made his Broadway debut with a role in the play Something About a Soldier. He is still well-known for his collaborations with Woody Allen, where he played in six Woody Allen movies, with Annie Hall being the most notable.
Roberts has appeared in many hit films, including both the Broadway and film versions of Stardust Memories, Hannah and Her Sisters, Play It Again, Sam, A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy, Radio Days, Woody Allen's segment for The Concert for New York City, and many more. He was also in the Sidney Lumet films Serpico, Just Tell Me What You Want, and the 1983 horror film Amityville 3-D. In 2014, Roberts was featured in The Longest Week opposite Jason Bateman.
Roberts's Broadway credits have a long list including The Sisters Rosensweig; They're Playing Our Song; Murder at the Howard Johnson's; Promises, Promises; Barefoot in the Park; How Now, Dow Jones; The Tale of the Allergist's Wife; Arsenic and Old Lace; and a few more. Robert has also taken part in various TV roles. He was the third actor to play Lee Pollock on The Edge of Night and appeared in numerous series such as Law & Order, The Carol Burnett Show, and Matlock.
