Joey Alexander began performing professionally in 2013 when he was invited to perform at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Gala by Wynton Marsalis. Alexander then relocated to New York City. He released his debut album, My Favorite Things, on Motéma Music in 2015, followed by three additional albums on the label and a fifth on Verve in 2017. Alexander's albums have received three Grammy nominations, Best Jazz Instrumental Album and two for Best Improvised Jazz Solo.
Alexander has performed alongside Wayne Shorter and Esperanza Spalding at the Obama White House, at the Arthur Ashe Learning Center Gala for President Bill Clinton, at the Grand Ole Opry, Carnegie Hall, the Apollo Theater, and at major jazz festivals and nightclubs throughout the world. He's also been the topic of 60 Minutes and The New York Times profiles. Alexander's debut album for Mack Avenue Records, Origin, will be released digitally and on CD on May 20 and on vinyl on June 24.
