The JP Jofre Hard Tango Chamber Band was founded in New York City in 2008 by composer and bandoneonist Juan Pablo (J.P.) Jofre. The main points of the quintet's repertoire are both original compositions by Jofre and genuine arrangements by the renowned composer Astor Piazzolla. Notable New York Times mentions and high acclaim from Lincoln Center—which hailed Argentinian immigrant JP Jofre as "one of today's leading tango artists"—have contributed to his meteoric rise to fame.
A long list of venues has seen the band since its 2008 premiere at New York City's Public Theatre, including Great Performers at Lincoln Center, the Celebrities Series of Boston, Seattle Town Hall, the Seoul Art Center in South Korea, the Panama World Music Festiva, Pro Arte in Puerto Rico, and Tokyo, Japan, to name a few. Eric Silberger joins Jofre on violin, Amy Kang on cello, Christopher Johnson on double bass, Pablo Cafici on piano, and special guests Ron Wasserman and Siyi Fang.
