The Fab 5 is an American tribute act that plays the legendary music of The Beatles. The current lineup consists of Rod Robert (drums and vocals), Chuck Essick (guitar, bass, and vocals), Joe Baiardi (bass, guitar, and vocals), Danny Kristensen (guitar and vocals), and Jimmy Dell (keyboard and vocals). The tribute band was formed when Bill Staats, Dwaine Abraham, Greg Lewis, and Glen Anthony Sattel decided to break off from their existing 1960s band called The Sign of the Times. The group consisted of almost 8-9 members and primarily did R&B, Motown, and Soul Music of the 1960s.
Later on, the four met at Greg’s house in 1990. Soon after they announced, they were leaving The Sign of the Times. All of the band’s members were astonished and upset after these four main members’ departure, but Staats, Abraham, Lewis, and Sattel were dreaming of a new band.
They wanted to take on The British Invasion/Party Rock music of the 1960s. In August 1991, the group appeared in their first performance at Scoma’s Italian Restaurant in The Woodlands, Texas. They were paid $100 and all the spaghetti they could eat and all the tea they could drink.
