Virgil Rene Gazca is a Mexican-American rapper. He is professionally known as That Mexican OT. He was born in Bay City, Texas. Gazca changed his stage name to That Mexican OT, which means "Outta Texas" in Spanish. Gazca began independently releasing hip-hop music online after graduating from high school. Mixtapes such as Southside Steppin (2021), Nonsense and Mexican Shit (2022), and South Texas Project (2020) followed in the early 2020s as a result of this.
Gazca drew inspiration from various artists when he was younger, from country singer George Strait to rapper Big L. He told Shelby Stewart of the Houston Chronicle that he would sing along to 106 & Park rap videos when he was four and that his desire to be a rapper began at that age. He also believed that the lyrics of songs like "Hardest Ese Ever" reflected the impact of his Mexican and Texan heritage on his music.
On July 28, 2023, his upcoming album Lonestar Luchador was released by Good Money Global. His breakout track "Johnny Dang" was included on the CD. The song features Paul Wall and Drodi as special guests and is a tribute to jeweler Johnny Dang. Both That Mexican OT and Drodi had their chart debuts with this single, which peaked at number 65 on the Billboard Hot 100 upon its release. Also, the song has been listened to 36 million times on Spotify, and its music video has been viewed over 20 million times on YouTube.
