Tennessee Vols Baseball Information
The Tennessee Volunteers baseball team competes in NCAA Division I collegiate baseball on behalf of the University of Tennessee. Like most of Tennessee's sports programs, the baseball club is a member of the Southeastern Conference's Eastern division. Lindsey Nelson Stadium is the site of every home game for the Volunteers when they are on campus. On the location of the former Lower Hudson Field, Lindsey Nelson Stadium was built during the 1992 and 1993 seasons.
Lower Hudson Field and Shields-Watkins Field were among the other venues in which the show performed. Many great baseball players came out of the program and are now playing in the major leagues (MLB). The baseball program at Tennessee has been consistently competitive and successful throughout the years, as seen by the many conference titles and trips to the NCAA Tournament that the Volunteers have enjoyed.
After leading the team to a 101–110 record and failing to make it to the playoffs in 2017, Dave Serrano decided to step down. Tony Vitello became the head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers baseball team on June 7, 2017. In his first season, the team went 29-27, the best record ever for a first-year head coach in program history. The Vols reached 40 victories and their first berth in the NCAA tournament since 2005 under Vitello's leadership in his second season as head coach.
