In men's NCAA Division I basketball, the TCU Horned Frogs represent Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. Since 2016, Jamie Dixon, a TCU Lettermen's Hall of Fame member, has coached the Horned Frogs. Before joining the Big 12 in 2012, TCU was a member of the Mountain West from 2005 to 2012, Conference USA from 2001 to 2005, the Western Athletic Conference from 1996 to 2001, and the Southwest Conference from 1923 to 1996. 

Jamie Dixon, the current head coach at Pitt and a former letterman for the Horned Frogs, was hired by TCU as their new head basketball coach on March 21, 2016. Before becoming the 22nd head coach of TCU basketball in Fort Worth, Dixon was the head coach at Pitt for 13 years, during which time he was named national coach of the year four times and was rated ninth all-time among active Division I coaches in terms of winning percentage.

After Dixon's first season, the Horned Frogs finished 24-15 and won the NIT Championship on March 30. In 2018, the Horned Frogs finally broke a 20-year drought by earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. In 2022, TCU qualified for the NCAA tournament. For the first time in 35 years, they won an NCAA tournament game with a 69-42 victory over Seton Hall in the first round.
