Suzy Bogguss Information
Susan Kay Bogguss (December 30, 1956) is an American country music singer and songwriter from Aledo, Illinois. Bogguss plays folk and country music and began to sing when she was only five. She used to sing in the Angel Choir of the College Avenue Presbyterian Church, located in her hometown. Later on, Bogguss took drum and piano lessons and picked up the guitar during her early teens. During her time in Aledo High School, Bogguss starred in several musicals and was crowned homecoming queen. She graduated in 1975 and enrolled at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington. She later transferred to Illinois State University (ISU) and graduated in 1980.
Bogguss spent her early career working at the local Tony Roma’s restaurant and later appeared in the “Jamboree” show of the early Dollywood. In 1991, she appeared on The Texas Connection/Austin City Limits. The first three singles by Bogguss were “Love Will Never Slip Away,” “Come as You Were,” and a cover of The Ink Spots’ 1941 song “I Don’t Want to Set the World on Fire.” Somewhere Between was the debut studio album by Bogguss released in 1989.
Some of her other notable studio albums are Moment of Truth, Aces, Voices in the Wind, Something Up My Sleeve, Simpatico, Give Me Some Wheels, Nobody Love, and Nobody Gets Hurt. “My Sweet Love Ain’t Around,” “All Things Made New Again,” “You Wouldn’t Say That to a Stranger,” “Keep Mom and Dad in Love” are some of the top hit songs by Bogguss.
