Son Lux Information
Son Lux is an American experimental band. The current lineup consists of Ian Chang (composer, producer, drums), Rafiq Bhatia (composer, producer, and guitars), and Ryan Lott (vocals, keyboards, composer, and producer). The band's first three albums, At War with Walls & Mazes, We Are Rising, and Lanterns, defined the band's unique sound through post-rock and electronica influences and were originally the solo project and alias of founding member Ryan Lott.
In May 2013, Son Lux signed with Joyful Noise Recordings the same month that their "haunting performance" of "Black Waters" was featured in Joyful Noise's eponymous flexi-disc series. Son Lux released the extended play Alternate Worlds in 2014, which featured re-imagined Lanterns tracks, including a rendition of "Easy" featuring Lorde's vocal talents.
Rafiq Bhatia and Ian Chang joined Son Lux after releasing their fourth studio album, Bones, in 2015, changing the ensemble into a three-piece band. The band's fifth album, Brighter Wounds, was published in February 2018 after releasing their EPs Stranger Forms and Remedy. Lott was featured on The Art Assignment in 2015 in a project that encourages viewers to collaborate around the music he composed for the show.
Son Lux announced in February 2021 that their next album, Tomorrows III, would be released on April 16, 2021, and would be the concluding installment of the Tomorrows trilogy.
