Sister Hazel Information
Sister Hazel is an alternative rock band founded in 1993 and originated from Gainesville, Florida. The group’s music is classified as jangle pop, southern rock, folk-rock, and alternative rock. The band’s current lineup consists of Ken Block – lead vocals, acoustic guitar; Jett Beres – bass, harmony vocals; Andrew Copeland – rhythm guitar, vocals; Mark Trojanowski – drums; and Ryan Newell – lead and slide guitar, harmony vocals.
Sister Hazel was named for Sister Hazel Williams, who was a local missionary running a homeless shelter. In 1994, the band released a self-titled debut album via its independent record label named Croakin’ Poets. It was followed by another album entitled ...Somewhere More Familiar that came out in 1997. “All For You” is a single included in this album that hit number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Some of the other notable albums by Sister Hazel are Fortress (June 27, 2000), Chasing Daylight (February 4, 2003), Lift (August 24, 2004), Absolutely (October 10, 2006), Heartland Highway (October 12, 2010), and Lighter in the Dark (February 19, 2016). “Change Your Mind,” “Champagne High,” “Life Got in the Way,” “World Inside My Head,” “Vacation Rain,” “Roll on Bye,” “Here with You” are some of the charting singles by the group.
Sister Hazel has had music featured in several movies and soundtracks such as The Wedding Planner, Clay Pigeons, Major League: Back to the Minors, and 10 Things I Hate About You.
