Salvatore Adamo (November 1, 1943) is a Belgian-Italian singer, composer, and musician. His signature style is swooning love balladry. Adamo has dual citizenship because he was born in Comiso, Sicily, Italy, but has resided in Belgium since he was three. Adamo has held the noble title of Ridder in Belgium since 2001. This is the Belgian equivalent of the English title "Knight."
His first fame spread across Europe and then to the rest of Asia, Latin America, Japan, and the Americas. He is one of the most commercially successful performers, having sold over 80 million albums and 20 million singles. Besides French, he has also sung in Italian, Dutch, English, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Turkish during his performances. There are still many people who know and love "Tombe la Neige," "La Nuit," and "Inch'Allah" by him. At this point, his albums have sold more copies in Belgium than any other artist's.
