Saint George SC Information
Saint George Sports Club, sometimes known as Kidus Giorgis, is a professional football club headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. They participate in the Ethiopian Premier League, the top level of Ethiopian football. Established as a symbol of Ethiopian nationalism and opposition to the invading armies of fascist Italy, the club was the first in Ethiopia and launched in 1935.
Following his departure from Kaizer Chiefs F.C., German coach Ernst Middendorp signed a 3-year deal in October 2020. Middendorp left his post in November 2020 because of political upheaval in Ethiopia; his assistant coach, Maahier Davids, took his place.
Davids was terminated as head coach of the club in March 2021. Scotsman Frank Nuttall was appointed to replace him, and he led the squad to a dismal third-place finish in the league after just 15 matches under his direction. The club brought Serbian Zlatko Krmpotic as their new head coach in July 2021.
