Rone Information
Erwan Castex, aka Rone (June 20, 1980), is a French artist and electronic music producer. He was born in Boulogne Billancourt, France. His debut EP, "Bora," was released in 2008 by the French company InFiné. The track gained instant support from a sizable portion of the electronic music community, for example, in the UK, after it was included on the mix compilation "At the Controls" by French DJ/Producer Agoria. Rone's new maxi, "La Dame Blanche," was published in 2009.
Bassist Tyler Pope of LCD Soundsystem and Austrian electronic musician Clara Moto subsequently remixed the track. He released his debut studio record, Spanish Breakfast, on Infiné the same year. For his efforts in 2009, Electronic Beats included him in their list of the top 25 best albums. Rone moved to Berlin from Paris in 2011 because he needed a change of scenery to write his next novel.
Following this, in the spring of 2011, the EP So So So was released to widespread praise. Tohu Bohu, a Biblical Hebrew expression for chaos, was the title of their second record, released in October 2012 on Infiné. New York's Antipop Consortium featured American rapper High Priest on the album's song "Let's Go." Rated 4/5 stars on Resident Advisor, and with three wins in 2012 from Trax Magazine (Best French Artist, Best Album, and Best Music Video), Rone has proven himself a serious contender in the electronic music scene.
