Richard Seguin Information
Richard Séguin (March 27, 1952) is a Québécois singer, producer, songwriter, and musician from Pointe-aux-Trembles, Québec. His music is defined as folk, rock, and blues. Séguin began his musical career in the 1970s by founding a duo named Les Séguin with his twin sister Marie-Claire. The duo was able to garner significant success in their hometown. Since 1979, Séguin has led a solo career while frequently collaborating with his sister on many of her solo albums.
As a solo artist, Séguin released a self-titled album in 1979. It was followed by a number of notable studio albums such as 1980: Trace et contraste, 1985: Double vie, 1988: Journée d'Amérique, 1991: Aux portes du matin, 1993: Vagabondage (live album), 2006: Lettres ouvertes, 2011: Appalaches, and 2018: Retour à Walden. As a duo with his sister, they released 1973: Séguin, 1974: En attendant, 1975: Récolte de rêves, and 1976: Festin d'amour. Séguin also took part in a 12-artist collective that came out in 2011, entitled Douze hommes rapaillés.
Richard Séguin has earned several prizes, such as the Felix Awards from the Québec music industry association. Many of his albums were also certified platinum for selling over 100,000 copies. Apart from his lifelong involvement in songwriting, Séguin has developed some amazing skills as a visual artist. He also has been borrowing and incorporating fragments of poems by Gaston Miron. On many occasions, Séguin expressed his complete support for Quebec's independence with his lyrics and public appearances.
