Renee Martel Information
Renée Martel (June 26, 1947) is a Quebec singer. She is known as one of the best singers in Quebec. Martel has so far sold more than 10 million records in her career. She was born in Drummondville. Martel was signed by Meteor, a record company, in 1964, under whom she recorded her debut solo album entitled C’est toi mon idole. Her contract with the label ended in 1966. She also formed a group named Renee and the Silverboys.
Martel signed a contract with manager Gerry Plamondon in the summer of 1967. Her first real hit was recorded under him, entitled Liverpool. From 1993 to 1996, Martel hosted the Country center-Ville television program aired on Radio-Canada in Moncton. The program gained good ratings. It reached around 900,000 viewers. She also released the album entitled Country. The album was also nominated for the ADISQ Gala.
Martel wrote her autobiography in 2002 in collaboration with her son, Dominique. The autobiography was entitled Renee Martel; Ma vie je t’aime; Publistar published the book.
Martel released her self-titled albums consistently three times in 1968 and twice in 1969. Other albums include Pagliaro & Martel (1971), My love story (1971), A love that does not want to die (1972), Rene Simard and Renee Martel (1978), A corner of the sky (1981); this is my story (1982), Gift (1984), and Authentic (1992).
