Ray LaMontagne Information
Ray LaMontagne (June 18, 1973) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He was born in Nashua, New Hampshire. After finishing high school, LaMontagne relocated to Lewiston, Maine, where he got a job in a shoe factory. In addition, LaMontagne devoted a great deal of time to his Wilton, Maine, home.
Other accounts place him at Turner and Buckfield, Maine, throughout his teenage years. LaMontagne's "All the Wild Horses" was featured in the TV series Rescue Me and the 2009 film The Boys Are Back, and an EP of his performance at the Bonnaroo Music Festival was released in 2005.
On May 18, 2018, LaMontagne released Part of the Light, his seventh studio album. LaMontagne served as the album's only producer. The album's lead song, "Such a Simple Thing," was available for streaming in its entirety, live, to those who purchased the album on LaMontagne's website. LaMontagne's "Part of the Light Tour" officially finished on May 27 at the Sasquatch Music Festival in the Pacific Northwest.
In 2020, RCA Records published LaMontagne's eighth studio album, Monovision. According to LaMontagne, his distinctive singing technique results from breathing via his mouth rather than nose. He has been heavily influenced by Stephen Stills, Richard Manuel, and Rick Danko, and his music has been compared to that of The Band, Van Morrison, Nick Drake, and Tim Buckley.
