Phillips, Craig, and Dean is an American contemporary Christian music trio. The group's current lineup consists of Dan Dean, Shawn Craig, and Randry Phillips. In 1991, Randy Phillips took a solo CD to various record labels. He was encouraged to start a male vocal ensemble by StarSong, a Nashville-based company. Two of his buddies, both pastors, had recently released solo albums, so he contacted them.
Their debut album was published in 1992 and reached position #13 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart. Successive albums from the band peaked at No. 12 and No. 11 on the charts: Lifeline (1994) and Trust (1995). Trust's "Crucified with Christ" went to the top of the INSPO list and was nominated for "Inspirational Song of the Year" and "Song of the Year" at the 1997 Dove Awards, demonstrating the album's widespread appeal. CCM Magazine also named it their "Inspirational Song of the Decade."
The Christ Church Choir and the Nashville String Machine collaborated on a Christmas record 1996 titled Repeat the Sounding Joy. Where Strength Begins was released in 1997. Two new tracks were included on a greatest hits album released the following year under Favorite Songs of All. They returned in 1999 with Restoration, then again in 2001 with Let My Words Be Few, and finally in 2003 with Let Your Glory Fall.
