Parsonsfield Information
Parsonsfield is an American multi-genre band founded in 2011 in Mansfield, Connecticut. The current lineup of the band includes Chris Freeman (banjo, guitar, pump, organ, bass, and lead vocals), Max Shakun (guitar, pump organ, synthesizer, bass, and vocals), Antonio Alcorn (mandolin, banjo, bass, and vocals), and Erik Hirschmann (drums, bass, and vocals). The original members of the Parsonsfield met when they were attending the University of Connecticut. The name of the group came from the town in Maine called Parsonfield, where the band also recorded their debut album. They regularly tour in Canada and the United States.
Parsonsfield began as an offshoot of the folk music club for their university. The band signed their first record deal with Signature Sounds Recordings in 2013, and soon after, they released their debut album entitled “Poor Old Shine,” recorded and produced by Sam Kassirer. Parsonsfield released its second studio album in July 2014, which was an Afterparty EP, featuring cover songs of Huey Lewis and the News, Mississippi John Hurt, and Bert Jansch. In September 2016, the third album by the band came out entitled “Blooming Through The Black.”
Parsonsfield released it’s latest studio album, entitled “WE” in March 2018, which was recorded at Dimension Sound Studios in Boston. The band has also released notable singles throughout their career including “Ktaadn,” “Stronger,” “Barbed Wire,” “Everyone Dies,” and “Kick Out the Windows.” Parsonsfield has written and performed an original score for the silent documentary of 1922 entitled, Nanook of the North, in September 2016.
